A large, blue-eyed dog recently found its way to an animal shelter in Ukraine. With his emaciated frame and mangy coat, it was clear that the stray dog’s life on the streets has been far from easy. The shelter staff was determined to help him find a new home, not realizing that the dog already had one.
The stray dog’s rescuers immediately took his photo and posted it online for potential adopters to see. With his condition, it was unlikely that someone would take an interest in him. However, the sadness in his eyes touched many people, causing for his photo to be shared hundreds of times within hours.

Within two days, a woman contacted the shelter. Someone sent her photos of the blue-eyed stray dog. She was struck at his huge resemblance at her dog, which was stolen from her backyard in 2017. Galina Lekunova, one of the shelter staff, said that the woman has been looking for her missing dog for two years.
To confirm their suspicion, they arranged a meeting the following day. Soon after seeing each other, it became clear that it was indeed the woman’s missing dog whose name is Lord. The poor pup could not hide his excitement at finally getting reunited with his owner after two agonizing years. He offered his paw and climbed up to give his owner some hug and lots of licks and kisses.
Lord seems to have been waiting for this moment to come for such a long time. He is now safe, happy, and back to where he truly belongs. The shelter went on to thank everyone who shared their post about the missing dog. Had they not spared a minute of their lives to spread the word, Lord would not have been returned to the arms of his owner.
