Dogs are generally loving animals. Sometimes, their affection is not limited to their humans but spills over to the other animals in the home.
The dog in our story, a motherly Lab named Camila, is just like that. She loves both her humans and her cat.
Camila lived in a home where there were two dogs and one cat. Camile grew to be affectionate toward the cat, whose name was Tobias.
One day, Tobias needed to be taken to the vet for some reason. While his humans didn’t specify the cat’s condition, it was obviously a serious one and not just a minor problem. According to Tobias’ human, the vet gave the cat only a 20% chance to survive the ordeal.
The motherly Camila anxiously waited for her humans to bring Tobias back home. As if she could sense that her friend was facing a difficult challenge regarding her health, Camila restlessly stood outside the house, watching for signs that Tobias would be arriving soon.
Then one day, good news arrived. Tobias made it! Camila couldn’t contain herself as her humans drove home from the vet, bringing Tobias with them in the pet carrier. She knew her wait would be over.
She stood excitedly near the gate as her humans were approaching. When they went in, she quickly went near them and smelled the pet carrier, happy to catch the familiar scent of her best buddy. “Finally, you’re home,” you could imagine her saying to her feline friend.
Camila was ecstatic to see Tobias again, but her humans wouldn’t open the carrier yet as someone was missing from the scene. They carefully placed the carrier on the floor and went inside the house to call the other dog before opening it.
Once the other dog was there, Camila knew it was time to open the carrier. She kept poking her nose at the carrier until her human opened it to let Tobias walk out. He looked safe and healthy.
Camila couldn’t contain herself. She kept pushing and tugging at Tobias as if to say “I’m here for you, my friend. You’ll get better.” Tobias, on the other hand, obviously enjoyed the welcome, and tugged at Camila, too.
Camila should serve as an inspiration to us humans to love others who aren’t like us. She’s a dog who chose to be affectionate to a cat who needed help.
