Hank, a four-year-old chocolate Labrador, arrived at The Fox Valley Humane Association of Appleton, Wisconsin, hoping to be adopted. What made Hank different was that he didn’t come alone: he was joined by his inseparable fuzzy purple hippo.
The Fox Valley Humane Association couldn’t let this pass unnoticed and documented the arrival of the unlikely couple by uploading a picture of Hank and his fuzzy buddy to the shelter’s Instagram account. Both looked adorable, to say the least.
While it was not possible to determine the hippo’s age (Hank was four when he arrived at the shelter), it would be right to assume that both are the same age, given the strong attachment Hank showed to his ever-present friend.
Now, the story took a strange twist as the shelter’s staff found the hippo badly damaged in Hank’s kennel, with its head almost fully separated from its body. All eyes were on Hank as the perpetrator of such “crime”.
The Fox Valley Humane Association again turned to Instagram to document the “crime” and told a hilarious account of the events following the finding of the hippo’s wounded body. They even called the local police department to start an “investigation” and took a picture of the repaired hippo having a conversation with a therapist.
After all was said and done and with the investigation finished, Hank was cleared from all charges against him and was soon joined by his purple friend. Apparently, there were no hard feelings between them, thank God, but it seems like the world will never know who bit the hippo so hard.
Now, the story has an even happier ending as the shelter reported that both Hank and his fuzzy purple hippo were finally adopted by a loving family who will have the honorable task of taking care of the lovely couple for the rest of their lives.
